Victorian Villa
Garden
Where:
Central Edinburgh
This was a varied brief for a beautiful detached villa in substantial grounds and included the design of the garden, lighting scheme, planting scheme and external kitchen. A stunning new extension required essential levelling and groundworks to allow for a seamless connection between the house and garden.
The aesthetic is contemporary while ensuring the new garden sits quietly and comfortably in its setting. A seating, dining and cooking space enables clients to entertain at scale and the wider garden is a fun and practical space for this young family with a putting green, in-ground trampoline and boulder seats.
A new random rubble wall reconciles the new levels and retains the lovely mature planting along the boundary of the garden. Hardwood planters frame the seating and dining areas. The kitchen blends glass reinforced concrete with hardwood bridge and floating counters. Japanese Acers, ornamental grasses, topiary box and leucanthemums anchor the low maintenance planting palette.
